Doug Reeves frequently asks audiences of educators what final grade they would give a student who received the following grades for assignments and homework (in this sequence) over the course of a semester: C C missed D C missed B missed B A. Educators’ answers range from F to A, revealing differences in how grades are computed from class to class. We’ll discuss whether this might be true in your school, and how schools can reduce failures by having a consistent approach to zeroes, averaging, and other grading dilemmas.
