SUMMARY:SLO 1.5: Introductory Session
DESCRIPTION:SLO Trainings for SAUs \nMaine DOE is once again proud to offer Student Learning Objective (SLO) training to school administrative units (SAUs) to help support of the development of Performance Evaluation and Professional Growth (PEPG) systems. These regional trainings will be available in Presque Isle this April. Student Learning Objectives are a part of the newly required PEPG systems for educators. \nFor the 2016-2017 school year\, Maine DOE has continued its partnership with the Northeast Comprehensive Center to offer training and support to effectively implement these important measures of student learning and growth. Two concurrent sessions will be offered: One introducing participants to an SLO process\, the second one delving deeply into the SLO process focusing on data\, quality assessments and target setting. \nSAU teams and other key staff who lead and support SLO work as a part of PEPG systems can expect to receive: \n\nResearch-based approaches to SLO implementation\nTurn-key activities to facilitate with your SAU\nElectronic resources to support districts in their SLO implementation\n\n  \nLevel 1.5: Introductory Session\n Focus: The introductory session will provide a comprehensive overview of SLOs for district teams to take back to their districts. \n\nUnderstanding the research behind SLOs\nAnalyzing what makes a quality SLO and an effective process\nConnecting SLOs to professional practice\n\n*Note: Those attending Level 2.5 training should bring\, if available\, 1 to 3 SLOs and assessments in either hard copy or electronic copy format to review. \n  \nSLO Level 1.5: \nI. SUMMARY:Generational Poverty PM Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Afternoon session description\n(for faculty\, administrators\, and community agencies) \nHeld at the UMPI Campus Center\, MPR Room \nDr. Donna M. Beegle grew up in generational\, migrant labor poverty. Today she will share an insider perspective on how educators and social service professionals can improve outcomes for children and families living in the crisis of poverty. A child born into poverty today is less likely to gain an education than a child born into privilege. Dr. Beegle will illuminate practical strategies for changing statistics and improving lives of children and families in poverty in meaningful\, repeatable\, and systemic ways.
