This course is an excellent first step in becoming a Red Cross volunteer and will equip you with the knowledge needed to respond to disasters both in your local region and through deployment to disaster areas across the nation. There are no prerequisites to this course and you will become qualified to provide “triage” services at disaster sites. This course is also a requirement for any qualified person interested in continuing on to become certified as a Red Cross Disaster Mental Health volunteer. \nBreakout Session 2: Allison Reed & Sarah Lagerstrom\nSuicide Prevention Training\nSuicide Prevention Training required for all school personnel. This 90 minute training will: \n\nProvide the fundamentals of suicide prevention\nProvide up-to-date information about suicide\nTeach basic suicide intervention skills\nIncrease personal confidence and ability to effectively respond to suicidal behavior\nIdentify helpful resources\n\nBreakout Session 3: Daniel Joseph & Caley Jones\, Instructional Coaches & Trainers\nCompetency Based Education Solutions: Leadership & Learning\nPersonalized Learning by Design: Student Ownership & Engagement\n90 minutes \nParticipants will be given an awareness of the tools and techniques that are designed to promote student ownership of their learning. There will be a focus on designing your instructional plan to accelerate student growth and engagement. Participants will be given tools for building transparent pathways with learning goals for students. Strategies for leveling and targeting instruction\, as well as flexible grouping. Developing a growth mindset system of student goal setting\, reflection and instructional feedback to accelerate learning through the identified learning progression. (I.e. Data Binders\, Student conferencing\, college and career readiness skills.) \nhttps://www.dropbox.com/sh/n054ql40f4wzoa6/AAD2q_PI2anl4y84viG7XqDSa?dl=0 \nBreakout Session 4: Craig Kesselheim\, Great Schools Partnership\nPrincipal Session – Leading the Implementation of Proficiency Based Learning\n90 Minutes \nGoals: \n\nIdentify leadership leverage points for PBE\nCollaboratively work through specific actions that will support grading reform in your district\nRefine personal\, school-centered leadership goals for your year of leadership\n\nDescription: \nWhen it comes to grading and reporting reform\, school administrators are deeply engaged and highly influential participants. The leadership landscape includes classroom practice\, new school structures and routines\, community engagement\, professional development planning\, fostering new dispositions in students\, and creating an overall coherence of these moving parts. This session will allow school leaders in The County to collaborate around multiple points of leadership\, based upon draft policy language that describes and defines what proficiency-based grading and reporting will require. The session will also include a short reading/discussion\, choice-based group work\, and personal leadership goal refinement in the area of leading grading/reporting reform. \n\n**Since we have a later registration time\, we will not be providing coffee and tea service\, but we will provide water.\nLunch information\nA bag lunch will be available to purchase for $6.00. It would consist of a deli wrap (ham and turkey\, cheese\, lettuce\, tomato) or veggie wrap (cheese\, lettuce and tomato)\, a bag of chips\, a whoopie pie\, mayo & mustard packets\, napkin\, salt & pepper. Beverages available with the bag lunch would be water or juice (apple or orange). Please specify if you are interested in purchasing a bag lunch when registering for your breakout session.  Districts paying for staff lunches will be billed through CACE. If individuals are planning on paying for their meals\, only cash payments will be accepted and exact change would be appreciated.
